ABOUT THE AUTHOR

R.W. Laidlaw has always enjoyed reading science fiction and grew up with Star Trek and Captain Kirk. For years he had a scene in his mind that he thought could serve as the seed for an interesting story. With a friend’s encouragement, he wrote Oasis. Laidlaw lives with his wife, Fran, in Port Coquitlam, B.C., a quiet community nestled next to the mountains and surrounded on three sides by rivers. They enjoy camping and rowing in their homemade cedar cosine wherry.

ABOUT OASIS II THE MOUNTAIN

The invading CANTOS have received a crushing defeat from the Star Marine Command soldiers who have been hiding out in an old meteor strike on a vast prairie since their escape. Rebuilding their army with scavenged  and stolen equipment, they were able to defend their new OASIS base by developing a cloaking and shield system.

Having the main Cantos base attacked by their own flying Battlewagons and the production facility for them destroyed, the Cantos, led by their new leader, JAR'L, must find a new location for a more secure base. The new location is inside a long dead volcano, its many lava tube tunnels and chambers being a perfect place to reorganize and go after the hated humans. Adapting their own operating shield system to protect the entrances, they feel  that this mountain will be the perfect place to make their defence and attack plans.

Now, Jar'l is calling out to all outposts in the sector, to bring all their ships and warriors to this planet, S-233, in the 2nd quadrant, so he can have the strength to attack and wipe out the humans in their Oasis once and for all.
